The old version of you worked perfectly - until it didn't.

I help smart people become more alive, connected and effective in an age of AI and disconnection.

A 4-minute message: what nobody tells you about identity impasse

The work

You've arrived at a moment of impasse. That's not a failure. It's a beginning.

You don't need more tactics, productivity hacks, or someone telling you to just pivot. You need help navigating the messy, disorienting space between who you were and who you're becoming.

AI is probably changing what you do. But it has nothing to say about who you are. That part is still yours to figure out. And as AI takes on more of the cognitive work, what remains distinctively human is the quality of attention, presence and relationship you bring. That's not a soft skill. It's the whole game.

  • A promotion that feels like imposter syndrome instead of progress.
  • A loss - relationship, belief system, career identity - that pulled the rug out from under your self-definition.
  • A version of success that left you emptier than you expected.
  • A world accelerating faster than your identity can keep up with.

The old script worked. Now it doesn't. And no one gave you a map for what comes next.

That's where I start.

The transformation

You don't become a different person.
You become more fully yourself.

Clearer. Calmer. Capable of leading your own life - and others - without the old script.

PILLAR 01

Relational intelligence

You stop performing connection and start genuinely reading, holding and repairing relationships - at work, at home and with yourself. The way you relate is an expression of who you are. Change one and the other follows.

PILLAR 02

Identity at the root

Underneath the way you relate is something deeper still - who you believe yourself to be. Most development never touches this. That's why it doesn't last.

PILLAR 03

Human capability for the AI era

A self that can flex without breaking. Grounded enough to lead through complexity, present enough to remain genuinely human when everything around you is accelerating.

The method

Most coaching changes what you do. This enables more of who you are.

There are three layers to the practice - each one doing something the others can't.

Beholding - a relational practice for deep change

At the heart of this work is a quality of attention that most people have never experienced in a professional context. Beholding is a simple dialogue practice that cuts through layers of self-talk and imagined reality to get to the nub of what's going on, quickly. Drawing on practices such as mindfulness, circling and Internal Family Systems, it creates the conditions in which you stop performing, begin to see yourself clearly and what needs to change. And in terms of relational intelligence - you'll be learning skills that benefit all of your relationships. It is easy to learn, becomes second nature quickly and it's where real change starts.

Design thinking as a change methodology

Clarity alone isn't enough. Alongside a deep understanding of the current reality and what needs to change, we need a rigorous way to work with it. The approach I use draws on twenty years of award-winning design practice and the methodologies I've trained hundreds of leaders in globally. We observe, hypothesise, prototype and test - in real life, not in theory. Our work together is treated as a design problem, not a willpower problem. That distinction changes everything about how change gets built, and why it holds.

Grounded in accredited coaching practice

Both of the above sit within a rigorous professional coaching framework. I'm a fully-insured, accredited executive coach with 10 years experience supporting professionals. The relational depth has structure beneath it. Beholding ensures the work is real. The design thinking ensures it's effective. The accredited practice ensures it's safe.

Together, these three layers create something most development misses: change that reaches the root - and holds.

"Crucially, working with Matt gave me the confidence to really commit to this process. I wasn't sure about Beholding to begin with and I'd never used Design Thinking before but his warm, open manner and gentle, authoritative clarity enabled me to trust the process and move one step at a time into my future."

PROFESSOR, 54

How it works

3-12 months of 1:1 coaching.
Because identity doesn't shift in a weekend.

- 01

Weekly/fortnightly 75-minute sessions

Focused on where you're actually stuck. Not a preset curriculum. Not a checklist. Real conversation that follows what's alive.

- 02

Voice memo support between sessions

Real change happens in the 167 hours between calls. You get a direct line for check-ins, spirals, breakthroughs and questions as they happen.

- 03

A living, responsive process

This is not a curriculum delivered in sequence. It's a live, responsive process - observing what's actually happening, prototyping an intervention, watching what shifts, adjusting. Every engagement is built around you, not around a framework. We build small, unbreakable practices that prove the new identity to you over time - until it isn't aspirational, it's load-bearing.

- 04

Witness, challenge, structure

Three things, repeated patiently. Someone who sees you clearly. Someone who won't let you bypass the hard part. And a container with enough form that the work has somewhere to land.

Matthew McStravick

You're not a project. You're a person in a legitimate transition. My job is to witness, challenge and structure the space - so you emerge not just changed, but connected.

Who this is for

This is for you if

  • You've achieved what you thought you wanted - and it doesn't feel right.
  • You're leading other people but quietly losing yourself in the process.
  • You've outgrown the identity that got you here, and the next one hasn't arrived yet.
  • You're tired of performing - in meetings, in relationships, in your own head.
  • You want depth, not tactics. A real conversation, not a curriculum.
  • You're ready to commit to 3-12 months of honest, patient work.

This is not for you if you want a quick fix, a tactical playbook or someone to tell you what to do. I don't do that.

The work behind the work

The way you relate shapes everything else.

Your culture. Your decisions. Your capacity to lead. Your most important relationships. And underneath the way you relate is something deeper still - who you believe yourself to be. Most development never touches either. It's what I do best.

How do ambitious humans remain fully alive, connected and deeply satisfied while operating in increasingly complex systems? That's the question underneath all of this work.

In their own words

What this looks like
in real life.

"For the first time in 10 years, I stopped performing confidence and started actually trusting myself. I didn't know that was possible."
- VP, after promotion crisis
"I came for the identity work. I stayed for the relational intelligence. I didn't realise how much I was pretending in every part of my life."
- Post-divorce reconstruction
"The voice memo support was more important than I expected. I stopped spiralling alone and started actually moving forwards."
- Founder, post-exit

A real conversation

The future belongs to leaders who can remain deeply human.

The first session is on me. 45-60 minutes. No pitch. No follow-up sequence. Just a human conversation about whether this is your next right step. We get clear on where you're actually stuck and decide together if working together makes sense. If it doesn't, I'll point you somewhere useful.
